About Individual Therapy

Individual holistic psychotherapy is a form of therapy that takes into account the entire person – mind, body, and spirit. It focuses on the interconnectedness of all aspects of a person's life and aims to address the root causes of mental and emotional distress.

Through a combination of traditional talk therapy, mindfulness practices, and holistic healing techniques, individuals are guided towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences.

Interweaving of Psychodynamic and Systemic Therapies

Psychodynamic therapy aims to explore our subconscious; the hidden parts of ourselves that we may not want to see because seeing might be too painful.

Systemic-based therapy looks at the micro and macro systems that influence our lives and inner world, help us navigate interpersonal relationships, self-limiting narratives, and assist us with coping and challenging our inner and outer world via social awareness.

Trauma Processing

One of the ways we can look at trauma is: the past, repeating itself in the present, thus interfering with our ability to live in the present. Somatic research has shown that trauma can stay stuck (unexpressed) in the body and/or mind; thus we aim to give it expression.

Trauma isn't necessarily a "bad" thing. American culture has developed a habit of villianizing trauma; labeling it as an illness that needs to be eradicated. In truth, many ancient practices and rites utilized the wisdom and resilience gained from trauma to journey towards transcendence. When we process trauma in this context, we aim to shed the sand and keep the gold.

Shadow Work

This is the process of unearthing and rebuilding a relationship with aspects of ourselves that we may have closeted. Repressed thoughts, emotions, and physical and spiritual complexes can contribute to many ailments such as depression, anxiety, and mental and even manifest physically. Both shamed aspects; parts we view as negative, and gifts/ strengths can dwell in shadow

A Focus on Transpersonal Experiences

Transpersonal psychology is an area of psychology that seeks to integrate the spiritual and transcendent aspects of the human experience within the framework of modern psychology.

This is the study of connections. Well within the range of normal topics of discussion we might cover would be dreams, altered states of consciousness, extraordinary experiences, religion, spirituality, and culture.

The modalities discussed below are optional.

Dream Analysis, Archetypal Astrology and Tarot

Our dreams invite us to glimpse into our subconscious landscapes: Places within that have been forgotten, hidden, suppressed, and/or dissociated. In dream-work, we bring those parts into awareness and back into wholeness. Dream healing has been used for centuries by ancient shamans and healers: the symbolic language of dreams is archaic, deep and meaningful. We have a change to relearn the forgotten language of symbols by connecting with these journeys of altered consciousness.

Archetypal Astrology is a hybrid of traditional astrological knowledge/techniques within the context of Jungian based counseling. In a therapeutic context, we can utilize chart information to create additional dialogue and tools for you to be introspective regarding your life path, experiences and patterns/schemas.

Jung pointed to how the tarot can be used as an intuitive method that has the purpose of understanding this flow of life. When we go with the flow of life, we are better able to do the work of individuation. When we fight the flow of life, we also fight the process of individuation, ending up more divided. Utilizing the symbols and archetypes in the tarot can help us tap into our subconscious and inner wisdom, a note that this work is different than traditional tarot reading.

Energy Psychology, Reiki, and Trauma Informed Yogic Practices

Energy Psychology (EP) recognizes the powerful connection between the mind and the body. EP (also known as cognitive somatic practices) combines cognitive interventions with somatic techniques that influence the human bio-energy systems (i.e., neuroception, meridians, chakras, and biofields).

Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is a form of relational therapy that focuses on helping each person learn new behaviors and communication skills to improve their relationship. Through this method, folx learn to identify and change negative patterns in their interactions, develop greater intimacy and connection, and enhance their ability to manage conflicts effectively.

The therapy sessions often involve learning and practicing specific techniques, such as active listening, expressing emotions in a healthy way, and finding common ground during disagreements.

The ultimate goal of the Gottman Method is to help clients build stronger, more fulfilling relationships based on trust, empathy, and understanding.

This approach is rooted in extensive research and has been shown to be effective in helping couples address a wide range of issues and improve their overall satisfaction with their relationships. It's a useful model for resolving familial issues as well.

Life Coaching

Coaching aims at helping individuals achieve their personal and professional goals. Unlike therapy, life coaching focuses on the present and the future, rather than delving into past traumas or mental health issues. The goal of life coaching is to empower clients to make positive changes in their lives, develop new skills, and overcome obstacles.

Life coaching is not affiliated with therapy and does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions. Instead, life coaches work with clients to identify their strengths and create a plan for achieving their goals. By providing guidance, support, and accountability, life coaches can help clients make meaningful changes and live their best lives.

This service is not affiliated with psychotherapy and/or Evoke Therapy LLC; life coaching services are offered separately through Witchy Wellness. If you have questions or would like more information, fill out the contact box below (website coming soon...)
