Fees, Insurance, and Payment Options
Navigating therapy payments and insurance can feel confusing. This page is designed to help you understand your options so you can focus on your care without surprises. I currently work with adult clients only and offer private pay, insurance, and out-of-network options.
Session Rates
Individual therapy: $160
Couples therapy: $180
Family therapy: $200
These are my standard out-of-pocket rates if you choose private pay. I do offer a sliding scale for those who need it.
Insurance Options
I accept Oregon Health Plan (OHP) but do not take CareOregon. Many clients and clinicians find CareOregon very limiting, which is why I’m not participating with them at this time.
For clients with other insurance outside Oregon, including Florida or Idaho: I am not contracted with insurance companies in these states yet. However, you may still be able to use your plan through an out-of-network claim.
Some larger insurance companies will reimburse for out-of-network therapy. We can also submit a prior authorization check to see if your sessions would be covered. You can also contact your insurance directly to verify benefits.
How to Check Your Benefits
You can check your benefits online or by phone.
If your insurance company accepts OON providers, I can provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. For step-by-step instructions, visit our How to Check Your Insurance Benefits page.
Preauthorization
Some insurance plans require preauthorization before starting therapy. This is a review process that determines if sessions are covered, how many may be approved, and what your out-of-pocket costs will be.
A preauthorization can also determine whether an out-of-network provider will be covered.
Timelines vary, but preauthorizations usually take a few days to a couple of weeks.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
If you have an FSA or HSA, therapy sessions may be eligible for reimbursement. You can pay with these accounts directly or submit your superbill to get reimbursed later. This can make therapy more affordable even if your insurance only partially covers sessions.
Private Pay
Some clients prefer private pay for full privacy and flexibility. Benefits include:
No insurance approval required
Freedom to schedule as needed
No diagnosis required
Control over session length and frequency
Sliding Scale
I occasionally offer a sliding scale based on financial need. Please reach out to discuss if this applies to you.
Victims Compensation in Oregon
If you have experienced a crime or assault, the Oregon Crime Victims Compensation Program may cover therapy related to your victimization. Coverage can include mental health therapy, medical bills, and counseling. Funding comes from the state, so you do not pay directly. To apply, contact the program directly or I can provide guidance.
