Legal Letters and Documentation Requests
Legal Letters and Documentation Requests
From time to time, clients may request letters, reports, or documentation for legal, academic, professional, or personal purposes. These requests may include:
Accommodation letters for universities or workplaces
Disability or mental health statements
Emotional support or medical necessity letters
Immigration- or visa-related documentation
Court-related letters
Verification of treatment
Therapy summaries
Records requested by schools, employers, attorneys, or third parties
Completion of administrative or institutional forms.
Such requests fall outside the scope of standard therapy sessions and require additional clinical judgment, administrative time, and professional responsibility. For this reason, legal letters and documentation are treated as separate professional services.
All time spent on legal letters and documentation is billed at my standard professional rate of $160 per hour. This includes reviewing clinical records, assessing the appropriateness of requests, writing or revising letters, preparing summaries or reports, completing forms, and any consultation related to documentation. Time is calculated based on actual time spent and may include partial hours.
Any costs associated with mailing, postage, certified mail, courier services, or other physical delivery methods are the responsibility of the client and will be billed separately. Faxing documents is available when required and is billed at a flat fee of $10 per fax, reflecting the cost of secure fax services.
Payment is required prior to the preparation or release of any letters or documentation. Requests must be submitted in writing with appropriate authorization or release of information. Processing time varies depending on complexity and workload, and urgent requests cannot be guaranteed. Therapy sessions are not automatically used for drafting or revising letters unless explicitly agreed upon in advance.
Not all requests can be ethically or clinically supported. I reserve the right to decline letters or documentation that fall outside my clinical scope, professional judgment, or ethical guidelines.
Letters and documentation reflect clinical opinion, not legal representation, advocacy, or guarantees of outcomes. Repeated or high-pressure requests to expedite documentation may not be accommodated.
If you are considering requesting a letter or documentation, I encourage you to discuss this in session so we can clarify expectations, timelines, and feasibility.
